Re-textualized Ambiances is an audiovisual installation developed from archival film and sound recordings sourced from the Cimatheque – Alternative Film Centre in Cairo and the Syros Sound Meetings archive. Through audiovisual reconstruction, the work investigates how archival materials can be transformed into new spatial and sensory experiences rather than preserved as static historical documents.

By fragmenting, layering, and recontextualizing image and sound, the installation constructs an abstract environment where archival fragments become active participants in dialogue across places, temporalities, and cultural contexts. Rather than presenting history as fixed, Re-textualized Ambiances approaches the archive as a living material that continually generates new relationships and interpretations.
